NoteBecause this keyboard supports the newest Unicode 6.0 Ethiopic codepoints (for Basketo, Gumuz and Gamo-Gofa-Dawro), the font (version 1.200) is required to adequately view thekeyboard layout charts. If you do not require the Unicode 6.0 codepoints other Unicode fonts (such as Nyala) will likely be sufficient.IntroductionThis keyboard was developed for keyboarding the Ethiopic Script.
The'SIL Ethiopic' keyboard is designed to work with thefont (version 1.200). However, unless you need to use the newest Unicode 6.0 Ethiopic codepoints (for Basketo, Gumuz and Gamo-Gofa-Dawro)or the Private Use Area (PUA) characters in this font, you can use this keyboard with any EthiopicUnicode font (such as Nyala). Using with KeymanKeyman 6 or later is needed for using the keyboard. Keyman's latest version is available from here. If you will be writing or modifying keyboards, you will need the Developer version.
